Medical transcription jobs are opening up all over the place now, but the competition is heavy. In order for a medical transcriptionist to actually find a decent job, they need to know quite a bit! Here are a few things that the medical transcriptionist will need to get the best job.

Vocabulary. Having an extensive medical vocabulary is essential, as it will save the transcriptionist a lot of time looking words up to find out how they are spelled.

Certification. Getting certified greatly improves the chances of being hired for a transcription job and can actually be done online or through local classes.

English.
Medical transcriptionists need to be fluent in English if they want to be able to make a living off of medical transcription. Otherwise, they will find themselves out of a job very quickly.

Practice.
There are lots of practice CDs on the market and even online recordings for medical transcriptionists to practice with.

Typing. Being able to type quickly and accurately is vital in transcription jobs, so this is an area that transcriptionist wanna bes need to focus on.

All of these are very important to anyone attempting to find a medical transcription job and will help them beat out the less qualified competition. Medical transcription is a great way to work from home and earn a living, but it does require some basic skill sets.
